BJMBC Seminars and Conferences

Dr. Douglas Bachorik and his wife, Ruth, founded the music program in 2002. He is the Director of Music Studies and teaches conducting, theology of music, and congregational worship. He also co-conducts choirs and orchestra. He holds a PhD in musicology (Durham University), Master of Music in choral conducting (University of Oklahoma), and a BS in music education (Bob Jones University).

Mrs. Ruth Bachorik oversees the piano instruction at BJMBC with the help of several Filipino and American teachers. Ruth holds a B.S. in Bible and Music from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College and a Masters degree in Piano Performance from BJU. Ruth taught piano at BJU, and then taught in private studios in Oklahoma and Minnesota while regularly accompanying chamber music.

Ptr. Gilbert Castillo graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Bob Jones Memorial Bible College in 1989. He has pastored Gospel Light Baptist Church in Odiongan Romblon and is the senior pastor of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Quezon City.

Ptr. Jun Gonzales graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Bob Jones Memorial Bible College in 1990. Since 1997, he has been the senior pastor of Las Pinas Baptist Church. He has written Poems from a Pilgrim (2019) and Sonnets from a Shepherd (2015).

Mrs. Mila Kamibayashiyama is primarily a wife and mother but also teaches ladies’ Bible classes. Mila holds a BS in Social Work from the University of the Philippines, a Certificate of Professional Education, and an Associate of Practical Christian Training from BJMBC. She has served as a single lady church worker, missionary, and pastor’s wife. She loves to encourage and counsel ladies, especially those in ministry.

Dr. Phil Kamibayashiyama is the BJMBC director and has taught at BJMBC since 1991. Phil holds a BA in Bible, an MA in Bible, and a Doctorate in Pastoral Theology from BJU. His dissertation was a Biblical evaluation of Filipino culture. His father was Hawaiian, his mother is Ilocano, and he was born and raised in Chicago. He is pastoring Bethel Baptist Church in Makati City and has pastored two other churches. He and his wife Mila have four children.

Dr. Mark Lehman grew up as the son of American missionaries in Taiwan and is very familiar with Chinese culture and fluently speaks Mandarin. After earning his Ph.D. in Old Testament language and interpretation from Bob Jones University, he returned to Taiwan as a missionary himself where he continues to faithfully serve. Dr. Lehman also serves the Chinese-speaking world in other countries through his preaching the gospel and teaching God's Word.

Ptr. Ping Ngian has a B.S. in Music Education, a M.A. in Bible, and a Master's of Divinity from Bob Jones University. Called by the Lord to serve Him in ministry, he was ordained as Senior Pastor in 2007. He and his wife, Melanie, have three children: Paton, Judson and Prentiss. Passionate about the discipleship of Christ’s flock, he desires to lead his congregation in sound doctrine. He pastors in Grace Independent Baptist Church in Singapore.

Dr. David Potter earned a Ph. D. from Bob Jones University and went on to serve the Lord as an assistant pastor and seminary professor for 15 years. The Lord then called him to serve as a missionary in Hungary where he ministered with his wife for over twenty years. Dr Potter is enjoying his retirement while serving as a deacon in a local church and teaching Bible at Maranatha Baptist University.

Mrs. Jean Potter has served alongside her husband for over 50 years of ministry, including 20 years as missionaries in the country of Hungary. Jean is enjoying her retirement while teaching ladies Bible studies, mentoring younger women and mothering her seven kids, 12 grandkids and four greatgrandchildren.

Dr. Michael Privett completed his Master of Divinity degree at Bob Jones University. From 2011 to 2019, he served as Director of Church Planting & Development at Gospel Fellowship Association. Then in 2019, the Privetts returned to the local church pastorate and began to serve as hybrid missionaries. Pastor Mike shepherds the Summit View Baptist Church in Greenville, SC, while also serving as Executive Director of an U.S.-based missions agency committed to training national preachers.

Dr. Atan Taclob graduated from Bob Jones Memorial Bible College with a Bachelor of Divinity. He and his wife, Rachel, joined the BJMBC family in 2019. He teaches Bible and loves to encourage students in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. Atan holds an MA in Bible and PhD in Theology from BJU. He is pastoring LivingWord Baptist Church in Quezon City.

Dr. Abet Tiangco serves as the Director of Ministerial Studies of BJMBC. He resides in Malabon City with his wife Grace and their son, where he also pastors Promised Land Baptist Church. He has taught most of the Bible classes in the undergraduate program. Abet graduated from BJU Seminary with a Masters of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry.
